WHAS Crusade for Children Awards VIPS $182,000

July 6, 2023

Founded 70 years ago, the WHAS Crusade for Children’s mission is to make life better for children with special needs. They have absolutely fulfilled that mission at VIPS! In 1984, when VIPS founders providing critical early intervention to children with blindness and vision loss was but a dream, the Crusade for Children stepped up to make it a reality with an initial investment of $10,000. Here we are, 38 years later, the Crusade for Children continues to support the VIPS mission but now across two entire states with a grant of $90,000 to Louisville, $50,000 to Central Kentucky, and $42,000 to Indiana. The Crusade for Children’s total blessing to VIPS now totals $3,175,691! We are so grateful for their ongoing support as it will impact many children’s lives!

This is Harvey! He has been crushing his goals lately! His mom, Daisy, has been working on encouraging him to sit independently while using his vision in his lower field. As you can see in the picture, he is pushing his switch to activate his transformer car, which is his favorite toy! This is no small feat for him, as reaching and looking at the same time is challenging. Daisy was so pleased at how well he was able to not only use his vision, but activate his core muscles to remain in a sitting position. We are so proud of Harvey!
