When planning a year-end contribution to VIPS, remember that charitable donations are deductible in the year they’re made. If you choose to give to VIPS before the end of December, please use these helpful tips to make sure your gift counts in the 2025 tax year.

VIPS will be closed from December 24, 2025, to January 4, 2026. To assist our donors with their year-end giving, the Development Team will be monitoring their emails for questions. To ensure that your gift will be processed to meet IRS tax-year deadlines, please see the information below.

Gifts by Credit Card—12/31

Credit card gifts made online should be completed before midnight Dec. 31, 2025, to qualify as tax-deductible contributions in 2025. To make your gift online, go to vips.org/donate. IRS guidelines require that online credit card transactions be completed by 11:59 p.m., Dec. 31, 2025 (based on the time zone in which the gift is made), in order for those gifts to count in the calendar year.

Gifts by Mail—12/31

Under the “mailbox rule,” if you are mailing your check via the U.S. Postal Service, the postmark date will be considered the gift date.

To ensure your gift is processed and postmarked in 2025, checks sent via U.S. Mail must be postmarked on or before Wednesday, December 31, 2025. We recommend mailing your gift by December 26th at the latest to allow the post office ample time to process and postmark it before the year ends.

Gifts by IRA Rollover—12/31

Qualifying IRA Rollover contributions (IRA Rollovers) or gifts made from your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) can be made directly from your IRA Administrator with the same receipt requirements as gifts by mail (postmarked on or by Dec. 31, 2025).

Gifts by Stock—12/23*

To qualify as a 2025 charitable donation, stock gifts must be received in VIPS’s brokerage account by December 31, 2025. Because transfers can take several business days, especially during the holidays, please initiate your transfer by December 20 to 23, 2025, or earlier, depending on your broker, to ensure timely receipt.

Dallas’s mom really wanted him to be able to play independently. During a recent visit, we explored several switch options that would activate a toy. After a few attempts, he got the hang of it and was able to activate the switch on his own! The smile says it all! Way to go Dallas! We are so proud of you!
