CALL THE GOVERNOR AND YOUR LEGISLATORS NOW
|
Please call the Governor's Office at 502-564-2611 immediately to help prevent the elimination of VIPS outreach dollars to service visually impaired children in rural areas!! The Governor and Legislators need to hear from YOU that VIPS' services or important for all visually impaired children!!! Suggested dialogue which you can personalize: I am calling you to express concern over the recent cuts in
First Steps and the devastating impact those cuts will have on visually impaired
children. Rural area children have a lot of trouble finding services to help.
The teachers from Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Inc. teach ways to help
babies do the simple tasks like move around his/her environment, socially
interact with friends, and play with toys. VIPS teachers also offer help with
skills like eating, dressing and personal hygiene. What seems simple to you and
me can be extremely hard for a baby with severe vision loss. These skills are so
important for every child and even more so for children with special needs. Our
VIPS teacher shows us ways to teach our baby these skills and gives us
confidence he/she will succeed. Please make sure these cuts don't happen!!
